Chip manufacturer TSMC, which makes chips for AMD, Nvidia and Qualcomm, says it will produce the first chips at 3 nanometers this year.
That means more efficient and more economical chips.
TSMC is a Taiwanese manufacturer that produces chips for several large technology companies.
In a phone conversation with analysts about its quarterly results, the company said it plans to start 3-nanometer production this year. Mass production is expected to begin in the second half of 2022.
That’s good news for electronics manufacturers and their customers.
According to TSMC, compared to a 5-nanometer production process, there is a logic density gain of up to seventy percent. Such chips have 15 percent better performance and up to thirty percent less power consumption.
