The former governor of Colorado abandons his presidential ambitions. The Democrat John Hickenlooper announced on Thursday that he would stop his campaign.
According to polls, the politician had little chance in the Democratic primaries. Then it is decided who on behalf of the party can participate in the presidential election in 2020.
The winner must probably compete against incumbent President Donald Trump.
Hickenlooper, who presented himself as moderate, struggled to distinguish himself from the other candidates.
According to The New York Times, there are 23 other Democrats who want to represent their party in the elections, including former Vice President Joe Biden.
Although the former governor ceases his campaign, that does not mean that he is also saying goodbye to politics. He would now consider throwing a Senate seat.
