Productive Talk about the US and North Korea Summit. US President Donald Trump says there has been a productive talk between the United States and North Korea to allow the meeting between him and Kim Jong-un to continue.
The summit was scheduled for June 12 in Singapore, but Thursday Trump abandoned the meeting with the North Korean leader, as the North Koreans, according to Trump, have behaved hostile. Yesterday Trump already said that he did not rule out that the summit would continue anyway.
Now the American president on Twitter reports that there has been a productive discussion to let the top go on. The tweet also states that if the summit continues, it will probably happen on the same day and the same location, posted by CNN News.
South Korea, which mediated the talks between the United States and North Korea, reacts cautiously positively. The country says it is happy that the discussions between the two nations come back to life and are not entirely extinguished. South Korea says to keep a close eye on developments.
Both countries have remained remarkably generous in their statements after Trump’s decision to cancel the summit. North Korea said that “there is a lot of appreciation for President Trump’s attempts to achieve a historic summit.”
Trump called the North Korean response to the cancelled summit “warm and productive.”
