Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Infected with Corona, Out of Hospital

Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, infected with corona, has been able to leave the hospital. He was briefly admitted there on Sunday for observation, but it soon turned out that he was sicker than assumed.

It was then decided to let the 48-year-old head of government stay longer. His condition has now improved.

Bettel will resume his official duties via telecommuting on Friday, the Luxembourg government said. The prime minister, who had only been vaccinated against the coronavirus once, had to go to the hospital when the oxygen level in his blood turned out to be too low. At the beginning of this week, his health was still considered serious.

Bettel tested positive a few days after a European summit in Brussels at the end of June. He would not have had close contact with Prime Minister Rutte and the other EU leaders at the meeting.
