Polish seniors and those in quarantine are allowed to vote by post in elections. The Polish Parliament approved that measure early on Saturday morning.
Poland will hold presidential elections in May.
Incumbent President Andrzej Duda is considered the favourite to win. The opposition had called for the polls to be postponed because of the corona crisis.
The amendment of the electoral law was included in the package of economic support measures at the last minute. Opposition leader Borys Budka said the government apparently wants the elections to go ahead at all costs.
A parliamentarian from the ruling PiS party denounced opposition protests.
According to him, he first complained for weeks that the ballot box “will endanger the elderly and that people in quarantine cannot vote”.
