More and more Germans take to the streets to protest what they consider to be too strict measures against the coronavirus. They find the rules undemocratic.
German media speak of the “new angry citizens.”
There are already more demonstrations in April than in March. The demonstrations sometimes attract hundreds of people.
The protests are partly spontaneous, and others are officially registered.
The demonstrators are a colourful collection of people: from left-wing opponents of vaccinations, right-wing extremists and conspiracy theorists to ‘always angry’ complainers and citizens.
They strive for freedom without a political background.
