Kyiv Mayor Announces Curfew Again

The mayor of Kyiv has announced a new curfew for the city. Residents of the Ukrainian capital must stay indoors from 8 p.m. local time on Monday and are not allowed to take to the streets again until 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said shops, pharmacies and gas stations would not open on Tuesday.

Curfews have also been imposed before. For example, last week, the residents of Kyiv were not allowed to leave the house for 35 hours.

A ban on taking to the streets in the southern city of Zaporizhzhya ended Monday morning. That ban was in effect from Saturday afternoon.
