Jail Sentences for British Road-Blocking Climate Activists

Nine British climate activists have been sentenced to months in prison for blocking roads and ignoring police orders.

Members of the action group Insulate Britain have caused long traffic jams, including walking on busy motorways in London and clinging to the road during the climate summit in Glasgow.

Insulate Britain demands that the British government isolate millions of homes in the fight against climate change. The action group has repeatedly blocked roads in and around London since September, much to motorists’ anger.

According to the group, members aged 20 to 58 were sentenced to three to six months in prison. According to the British transport minister, anyone who causes misery on highways by ignoring warnings should go to jail.
