Germany Took Over Nearly 200 Patients From Other EU Countries

Since the start of the corona crisis, Germany has taken over 198 seriously ill patients from the other EU Member States.

It concerns 130 patients from France, 44 from Italy and 24 from the Netherlands, says a spokesman for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Compared to the other EU Member States, Germany has a relatively large number of intensive care beds available.

That is why patients are also admitted from other countries in the EU, where Italy is mainly affected by the pandemic. That country has reported the highest death toll worldwide.

The German ministry spokesman says there are currently no plans to take more patients from Italy. He stressed that the German Länder are ready to help again if necessary.
