Brandenburg’s German state runs out of its Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, and first-dose vaccinations must be stopped.
According to the newspaper Bild, it is the first state where the vaccination program fails due to delivery problems or the discontinuation of the use of certain vaccines.
The Brandenburg Minister of the Interior, Michael Stübgen, told the regional parliament’s health committee that with what is left of BioNTech and Moderna, second doses in the vaccination campaign could still be administered for a short time.
There, the vaccine is often used as a replacement for the obsolete vaccine AstraZeneca.
But, according to Stübgen, it won’t be long before that runs out. Then the vaccination program in the region of 2.5 million inhabitants will be brought to a halt in a few weeks.
