The European Union will not receive 500 million doses of the corona vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech this year, but 600 million.
Brussels has exercised an option from the original contract, BioNTech reports. This option had already been widely considered for another 100 million vaccines.
Last week it was announced that Pfizer / BioNTech would deliver the ordered doses to the EU and the United States more quickly.
In the second quarter, the companies expect to be able to deliver 250 million doses, four times as many as in the first three months. The additional 100 million vaccines will also be delivered this year.
Pfizer and BioNTech have recently ramped up production. They now expect to deliver 2.5 billion vaccines worldwide this year.
