The figure is not only from the past 24 hours but also includes delayed data from the Easter weekend.

The better news is that there were 513 fewer coronavirus patients in hospitals than a day earlier, the official said.

The number of confirmed infections in France increased from 103,573 on Tuesday to 106,206 on Wednesday.
