China Comes With New Laws After Unrest in Hong Kong

China Comes With New Laws After Unrest in Hong Kong. China is working on new security laws for Hong Kong following the massive protests in the city-state.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets for months to protest China’s increasing domination.

The new legislation prohibits, among other things, inflammatory activities aimed at the fall of the central government and external interference in the former British colony.

Hong Kong has been part of China again since 1997 but has more independence than other parts of the country.

Demonstrators initially took to the streets to protest a controversial extradition law, but later came up with other demands. For example, they want more democracy.

The new legislation is expected to prompt protesters to take to the streets again.

The Chinese National Congress is expected to begin Friday with the annual meeting previously postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
