Portugal Lifts Corona Emergency

Portugal will end the state of emergency on Friday, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa announced in a televised speech on Tuesday. It was introduced in November to contain the corona pandemic.   "I have decided not to renew the state of emergency," said Rebelo de Sousa. "The stabilization and decrease in the number of deaths and hospital admissions have played a role in this decision," said the president, who nevertheless called for caution.
