A vast majority of 72 percent of Japanese want the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for this summer to be postponed or cancelled again.

The fear of another wave of corona infections is the reason for this, Kyodo News reports after a survey.

In the survey, 39.2 percent of those surveyed indicate that they favour a definitive cancellation of the postponed Games, while 32.8 percent believe that the Games should be postponed again.

Only 24 percent of those surveyed are in favour of holding the Olympics and Paralympics this summer.

Almost all respondents (92.6 percent) said they are concerned about a revival of the coronavirus and the number of infections. 60 percent are also dissatisfied with the progress of the vaccination campaign in Japan.
