15 Years of Youtube: We Watch One Billion Hours of Videos Per Day

YouTube has been around for 15 years today. The video service now has approximately two billion users, who watch more than a billion hours of videos a day. Five hundred hours of videos are uploaded every minute.

YouTube was founded by three employees of the PayPal payment service. One of them posted the first video on April 23, 2005. It was called me at the zoo.

YouTube founder Jawed Karim showed how he visited a zoo. It didn’t matter much. The film lasts eighteen seconds. It was actually the first vlog.

YouTube was booming. In October 2006, about a year and a half after the start, the company was taken over by Google. T

hat paid $ 1.65 billion. Google has earned that back for a long time. YouTube received $ 15 billion from advertisements last year alone.

Some vloggers have also become rich, thanks to YouTube. The Swede PewDiePie, for example, is said to have earned around one million dollars a month thanks to advertisements in his films.

The most viewed video on YouTube is the clip of the song Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. It has been viewed 6.6 billion times. Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You comes in second, with 4.6 billion views.
